Obituary of Catherine Cook

CATHERINE "KAY" COOK September 17, 1918 - February 1, 2018 New Windsor, NY Catherine "Kay" Cook 99 of New Windsor, NY passed away February 1st, 2018 after a short illness. Born in Kingston, NY on September 17th, 1918, she graduated from Wallkill High School in 1937, she attended business school and then worked at the Newburgh Savings and Loan Association for 34 years retiring as branch manager. Catherine lived for many years at Kingswood Gardens Condominiums where she was very involved in the condo association, serving for many years as the association treasurer. Many hours were spent on boating on the Hudson River with her husband, Joe, and friends. After retirement, she devoted her life as a loving caregiver to her family members. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph Cook; brother, Bernard McCabe; sisters: Margaret Hughes, Mary McMickle, Frances Dobson, and Dorothy Blonde. In her quiet, reserved way she shared her strength, humor and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Catherine is survived by her many nieces and nephews, and her longtime friends Robert and Mary Ann Bamberger. A special thanks goes out to the owners and staff at the New Windsor Country Inn, she enjoyed her stay there. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, February 7 at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, 239 Quassaick Ave., (Rte 94) New Windsor, NY. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum Newburgh.
