Amalia Isaura Smith of New Windsor, loving wife, mother, “grammie” and area resident for 34 years, had peacefully passed away at home on August 25th, 2024. Born on September 13th, 1948, in the town of San Pedro Yucunama, Oaxaca, Mexico, she was an active, caring, and supportive member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in New Windsor. Her love extended well beyond her own family so much so, that she made sure everyone and anyone who walked through her door was loved and fed. She treated everyone like they were her own children. She is survived by her husband of 48+ years, Thomas E. Smith, her four children and their spouses; Kristina & Fred Stipak, Frank Smith & Jessica Sgaramella-Smith, Kara Smith & Robert Whitacre, and Erik Smith; her grandchildren Thomas & Brennan Stipak, Seamus Smith, and Ava Sgaramella & Brynn Smith; her sister Bertina and brothers Sergio and Marcelino, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, September 6th, from 4 – 8pm. A memorial service will begin at 7:30, officiated by Rev. Rigoberto Avila-Nativi, at Hudson Valley Funeral Home 239 Quassaick Avenue, New Windsor, NY. She will be cremated in accordance with her wishes.
