Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy L. Stupple of Bluffton, South Carolina, formerly of New Windsor, NY passed away on May 3rd, 2024, at the age of 88. Born July 12th, 1935, to Caroline and Peter Leone, she lived a full life as a mother of six and grandmother of three.
Nancy’s high school years were spent in Berlin, Germany with her parents. There she received her diploma and continued her endeavors in classical piano study. During her years as a mother at Stony Run Road, she was a member of the garden club and hosted canasta parties.
Having had six children, sewing became a necessary passion and Easter outfits and prom dresses were usually handmade, along with matching outfits for her six children. In 1982, Nancy received an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences from Orange County Community College and was employed as an Activity’s Director for local assisted living homes. She enjoyed helping others and her experiences with her own children were a great asset.
Music being a big part of her life, she used her talents to sing in church choirs, performing as an alto in the Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s churches. Nancy, a member of the Catholic Daughters for over 25 years, served as the Recording Secretary for 4 years and chronicled the local chapters functions. She was diligent in keeping their scrapbook up to date.
From 1989-1997 she was an Administrative Assistant for the Readiness Group of Stewart Field. She then served as a receptionist at the New Windsor YMCA until she retired. Having lived in the New Windsor area for over 60 years, she had many friends who cherished her kindness and her wonderful sense of humor.
Nancy leaves behind her son, Alfred Stephens with wife Alice Stephens and daughters, Caroline Stupple, Kathryn Stupple, Lorraine Gualtieri with son-in-law Cleo Gualtieri, Dorothy Tuthill with son-in-law Bernie Tuthill, along with her grandchildren, Nicholas Gualtieri and his fiancée Michelle LaForge and Brandon Tuthill. She is survived by her sister, Carmela Staples and is predeceased by her daughter Nancy Ellen and her grandson, Jason Gualtieri.
