I was one of Mr. Clayton's Latin students at South High/NFA from 1975-79, taking all 4 years of Latin. He was always a blast to be around and I owe much of my professional success to the enhanced vocabulary Latin gave me. One of my favorite memories of high school. It is with fond memories that we celebrate the life of and remember Charlie, aka Poppy. A kind, gentle, simple, and soft-spoken man. A man who always did good for his family. A man we will always fondly remember smiling & wearing a flannel plaid shirt of course. His legacy is his children, his character and faith. May the memories you have keep him close and he will forever live in your heart. Sending our condolences, thoughts, prayers, and love to the family. RIP old timer. Always a loving Poppy. Blessed that our children have such wonderful memories of Poppy. He knew how to connect with his grandchildren. The stories he would tell…skinny Jimmy and so many more. Poppy is loved and missed.
