Duane D Damanda, age 80, peacefully passed away at home on April 20th. Son of the late Fred and Leona M. Damanda, Duane was born on January 19, 1944 in New London, Ct. He graduated Wappingers Central High School in 1961 and attended Dutchess Community College. Duane was a proud member of the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967 and a graduate of the Military Police Academy, Lackland Air Force Base, TX. He served 4 years and was stationed at numerous SAC bases throughout the world. In 1966, He married Anne Marie Alisandrelli in Newburgh, NY who sadly passed in 1996. He was active in his local community with the New Windsor little League as manager for 5 years. During that time he was well respected by his many friends and family. He was also a proud member of the New Windsor Fire Dept. were he served as president from 1986-1988 and again in 1991. Duane was retired from IBM Corporation in 1997 and from the Department of Treasury, US Mint at West Point in 2010. Duane’s family and friends will always remember him as a true friend and a man of his word. He is survived by his three children, Dawn Woody, Duane Damanda and Debra Salisbury. Along with son in law Darren Salisbury and his three beloved grandchildren, Tyler Woody and Samantha and Rhylee Salisbury. He will always be remembered by those who loved him for his humor and great love of Elvis Presley. The family requests in lieu of flowers a small donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital be made in his name. There will be a public graveside service on Thursday, April 25th at 10am at Calvary Cemetery 304 Walsh Ave New Windsor, NY 12553 followed by a celebration of life at Shamrock Tavern in Cornwall, NY.
