Gerald J. Kostiuk, 92, entered into eternal rest on March 21, 2023 at Montgomery Nursing Home in Montgomery, NY. He was born July 2, 1930, the son of Rozalia and Onufry Kostiuk in Hazleton, Pa. Gerald attented St. Basil's Prepatory School in Stamford, Ct. He joined the Army, was stationed in Germany and discharged from The Army Reserves in 1962. He worked for MacGraw Hill Publications in NYC as a graphic designer. Gerald resided in New Jersey for many years, Florida and finally, New Windsor NY. He enjoyed classical music, playing chess, watching sports, classic movies, woodworking and especially spending time with family and friends. He also taught CCD and served as a eucharistic minister. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Mary(John) Walchonski, Helen(George)Letchko, Anna(John)Volk, Magdelan(Anthony)Figueredo, Catherine(Warren)Guis,and Raymond Kostiuk and other relatives. Gerald is survived by his youngest sister Rosemary Matusick (George) and sister-in-law Sylvia Kostiuk along with his three children; Gregory Kostiuk (Kerry), Deborah Benzal and Katrina Rubino (Paul), his beloved grandchildren; Brian Benzal (Danielle), Heather Benzal (Casyn Meek), Laura Benzal (Chris O’Neil) and Charles Rubino as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Gerald found strength in his faith and has surely found eternal peace. Gerald wished to be cremated and have a funeral mass which will take place on April 10, 2023 at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Washingtonville, NY. He will then be interned in Cedar Hill Cemetary in Newburgh, NY.
