Obituary of Patrick J. Berardinelli Sr.

Patrick James Berardinelli Sr., a lifelong resident of Newburgh, passed away on June 28th, 2022, at the age of 82. Patrick was born on July 21st, 1939 to the late James Berardinelli and Mammie Berardinelli. Patrick grewup in the City of Newburgh with his two brothers Dom and Tony and his sister Rose. Patrick was the youngest of the four. After meeting the love of his life, Elizabeth Jessie Berardinelli (Sloat), at a school dance, the two married at the age of 19 in 1959. The two started a life together and a family having three kids: Patrick Berardinelli Jr., Michael Berardinelli, and Dina Berardinelli. Patrick and Elizabeth were blessed to have been married for 63 years. Through his job at IBM as a Director of Global Operations, Patrick had the opportunity to travel the world. Patrick was a member of the National Guard retiring as a Staff Sergeant and a member of the Catholic War Veterans. After retiring from IBM Patrick followed his love for community and entered public service first becoming a Newburgh City Councilmen and later an Orange County Legislator. He was a lifelong outdoorsman, competed in darts with the team at St. Francis Church in Newburgh, and even won “Man of the Year”. Patrick loved golf, was a member of various Country Clubs and numerous golf leagues. Patrick was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis Church in Newburgh where he taught CCD classes and participated in bible study and prayer groups. He was a lover of history, books, film, good food, playing cards, spending time with his family, and participating in his community. Patrick was a social butterfly and known for his good sense of humor and love for sharing a good joke. Above all these things Patrick was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Patrick was preceded by: his parents James Berardinelli and Mammie Berardinelli, his siblings Dom Berardinelli, Tony Berardinelli, and Rose Berardinelli, and his daughter Dina Berardinelli. Patrick is survived by: wife Elizabeth Berardinelli (Sloat); his sons: Patrick Berardinelli Jr. his wife Gina Berardinelli and Michael Berardinelli and his wife Sherri Berardinelli; and grandchildren: Connie Berardinelli, Kayli Berardinelli, and Colin Berardinelli. Wake will be held at Hudson Valley Funeral Home 239 Quassaick Avenue New Windsor, NY on Wednesday 7/6/22 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Francis Church in Newburgh on Thursday 7/7/22 at 10am. Burial to follow church services at St Francis cemetery.
