Lawrence R. Yantz, 91 of the Town of Newburgh, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at home. Lawrence was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 21 1934 to the late Jacob Yantz and Clara (Meyer) Yantz, and was an area resident for 65 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and previously affiliated with St. Mary’ Church, Newburgh He served in the US Navy and served during the Korean War. His pride and joy were his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved working outside on his lawn and Hosta plants. He could fix almost anything. The family affectionately called him “mayor Skip” as he seemed to know someone no matter where he went. He had a great sense of humor. He is the widower of Theresa (Consolino) Yantz. Lawrence is survived by his children, Patricia (Yantz) Wenzel and husband Gary Wenzel, son, Lawrence J. Yantz, Sr. Grandchildren: Mark Wenzel, James Wenzel, Marissa (Wenzel) Deubner and husband William Deubner, Gregory Yantz, Lawrence J. Yantz Jr. great grandchildren: Aridessa Yantz, Michael Deubner. And several brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. He his pre-deceased by his daughter DonnaJo (Yantz) Morse, and grandson Christopher Wenzel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 19, 2025 form 4-7 pm at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc. 239 Quassaick Avenue New Windsor, NY 12550. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church Newburgh, at 10am on Thursday November 20, 2025. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to. Tunnel to Towers, Deacon Jack Seymour Food Pantry, or Regional Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.
