In honor of a dear friend and shipmate Ernest Wagner (Ernie). He was always a great friend and shipmate. I had the honor of working in the same division (B division) as Ernie on board the USS Cascade AD-16. He was always hard working and ready for a good laugh. We all miss him during our zoom chats every week. Always speaking his name and talking about the old days.
Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate. Rest easy in the arms of God fellow Snipe. For we now have the watch.

Ernie- will always remember you from out cruise to Bermuda for Dan and Michele’s wedding. It was such a pleasure meeting you and even though we only spent that short time together, I feel like I’ve known you for a very long time. You are truly missed and I hope you are now resting peacefully, I know how much you missed Pat. I hope your beloved NY Mets win the World Series for you this year ❤️

As Ernie's youngest sister, there are too many memories to share. Lots of good times with my brother and proud of his accomplishments. One memory..my brother and I always had a special connection. I remember as a little girl having to take Ernie back to the Navy. We were dropping him off at the train station, we waited for the train, it came, we said our goodbyes, he boarded the train, just as the doors were closing, I ran to him and cried, don't leave. The conductor allowed me to ride the train one stop with him and my big brother, with a lump in his throat, I'm sure, explained to his baby sister why he had to go. Ernie and I talked about this many times, when he fell ill, i selfishly asked him to please not close the train doors. As his body continued to fail him, the last time I saw him in hospice, I told him I understood that he needed to close those doors. Yes I would miss him, but I understood. He's on a new journey now, enjoying being with Patricia and all of those who have gone on before us. My brother was a smart, good kind man.... extremely stubborn. I will miss him forever.

FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS. Ernie, you and my dad, Uncle Sook, both inspired me to join the military. Even though I went into the Airforce I hold dear to my heart the patriotism of being able to serve. As memorial day comes around this year, I will be honoring you in my heart, thoughts and prayers. There are so many memories that I could share there isn't enough pages. Just know that you were loved by me, Aunt Edie and Ann. Go rest high on that mountain cousin. Until we meet again, FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS!!!
